Our Values
Partnering: We work to build mutually beneficial relationships. We prefer to start and complete projects with partners. We come in as partners, not experts, with our clients.
Empowering: Our goal is that whatever indiviudual, team or organization we serve is stronger and more able as a result of our support.
Healing Within relationships and communities we value restoration where trust has been broken. We work for wholeness within leaders.
Integrity We value authenticity in our business practices and relationships. We work to be worthy of the trust given to us.
Humility We value individual and organizational humility.
Peacemaking We value working to prevent unhealthy conflict. When it cannot be prevented we are committed to the process of reconciliation.
Honoring Culture We recognize and bring dignity to the cultures we serve with and in.
Desire
Beyond Borders was founded out of a desire to serve others. That desire was and is informed both by our professional experiences and by our faith. Specifically, a belief that life was created to be good and things are no longer as good as they were meant to be. We believe that God is interested in our communities, our organizations and how we relate and work together. We believe he has extended an open invitation to help build and restore what was meant for good.
Leadership and Conflict Resolution
We endeavor to follow Christ’s example and His call to be Servant Leaders and Peacemakers in a world that is often driven by fear, anger, blame, greed and denial. We recognize those ‘drives’ because we struggle with them too. We believe they are destroying our communities, our churches, our political processes - our people. So, informed from our level of understanding what Jesus taught – we support leaders to lead well and to be guides through conflict.
A Path Differently Traveled
We’re not a normal faith-based organization. 80% of our work is with tribal organizations, government programs, nonprofits and businesses. 20% is with churches or traditional ministries.
We spend less time telling, even in our trainings, and more time asking questions, probing motivations, exploring options – helping our partners make great choices and strengthen their organizations, communities and teams.
To the degree that we are able to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly – we live out our faith in the community.
